On this day in 2013, I released my first official full album, Chronicles Of A Rising Star: Inception. Each song on the album had a music video and, when played in order, made a short film.
The idea was inspired by the Christopher Nolan movie, Inception, and played on my real life experiences at the time of being a graduate student in a chemistry lab that ALSO had an immense desire to be an entertainer.
The project was challenging, but deeply satisfying and cathartic. It allowed me the ability to explore parts of myself that I was not allowed to growing up.
Looking back on it, I can see that it was truly the start of me realizing that I could make my visions and dreams a reality. I wrote the songs, was in the studio putting together every note as perfectly as possible with the incredible musicians, Daphne, Josh, and Zoo, that graciously gave their time and energy to this project. I had no idea what I was doing and they were so patient with me throughout the entire process. This project is completely impossible without them. My two co- stars, Kendall and Bryce, were amazing to work with as we slowly put the choreography and visuals together. My visual production team was a dream to work with, coming up with creative ways to execute my crazy ideas so that the audience could understand it too. I am truly blessed by each and every one of them for the experience.
I’ve since moved to California and had the honor of being a part of some of the largest productions in the country. But there is nothing that has felt even remotely close to how beautiful this project felt.
